Population aging is unprecedented, without parallel in all of human history, and it will affect us

Aging World | minority
I last visited with my mother. I heard the stories about the visits of other grandchildren, who cried in a nursing home, or perhaps because of this preparatory atelca visit was so traumatic for me. My grandmother was actually a good day. I of course did not recognize, at least not at first, and she did not remember that I had a woman or a child, but my mother is always the same. Every five minutes we made sure to remind her where she is, and every time she was surprised again. Floor neighbors told occasionally she gets to the bathroom, because I do not remember what her room, but it does not bother them because it is very clean and tidy. She was the subject than I remembered. When she spoke she actually spoke to it, and understood us. Situation remains as it was, they did not get healthier these ages, but in the meantime is stable. There are worse cases.
Shortly after the end of World War married with my grandmother, who lost his first wife in the Holocaust and little son. They climbed illegally to Israel, captured, and transferred to the British detention camp in Atlit. Two daughters were born to them here over the years, my mother and sister. My grandfather died of cancer nearly thirty years ago. More than a decade my grandmother complaining about memory loss, although for a long time it seemed we all just exaggerating. A few years ago it was decided she should have protected housing, just to be safe. Condition deteriorated quite moderate, and there were times when she got confused between me and her other grandchildren. Six months ago an incident occurred probably related traumatic caregiver, and her condition deteriorated dramatically's grandmother, who lost almost entirely short-term memory.
This is not a rare anecdote. According to an article on the subject published Kalkalist supplement (the more severe atelca case), 70% of people over age 80 suffer from chronic disability, and 36% of people ages suffer from cognitive impairments are moderate to severe. It's atelca not just Alzheimer's, but a much broader atelca range of cognitive problems called "dementia" or "dementia". There is currently no effective treatment for these diseases, not sure we ever will. In the past people would die from cancer or heart attacks at a younger age, but today more traditional manage to avoid diseases and dementia relevant to this age group. Impossible to avoid the conclusion: There is a good chance that we spend so that the years of their lives past - wander in confusion atelca in the world that it does not understand, try to interpret it by the memories we do not know that they were 40 or 50 years and conjure up long-dead atelca people and forget our relatives who still between life and try to resist the process we are going through without success. Many young people would like that sounds worse than death, and yet another public movement arose not wide enough for you to change the laws that allow end the suffering of having atelca cognitive impairment. Today, old age is a major pain in the Western world. atelca
Only suffering will increase in the future, in a world with more elderly and less able to finance medical services for them. In fact, beyond the personal suffering involved in the matter, the aging population is one of today's most serious dangers for the future of mankind.
Population aging is unprecedented, without parallel in all of human history, and it will affect us all. This is certainly atelca a process and irreversible - very unlikely occur suddenly global phenomenon of high birth rates or shortening life expectancy change the forecasts. People all over the world bring less and less children do later years, while that live longer.
Even if we assume that each own pension saving (pension accrual, as opposed to budgetary pension), an aging population will result in heavy costs imposed on young workers due to government subsidy of healthcare and social security, or simply atelca a concern of young people and their parents. And of course, the assumption atelca regarding contributory atelca pension unfounded Israel and many other countries, and many workers still belong to budgetary pension or pension benefit far-reaching benefits at the expense of the entire country. Today has been a significant part of the education and defense budgets atelca or electric company atelca is going to pay pensions in the country, and this section will only increase. As I wrote here, the high expenses of cities in California arrived bankruptcy of the Greek government or caused largely due to the increase in costs of pension payments. Most practitioners claim that it is a much more serious problem atelca than the current financial crisis (for example, see British article about it here).
Is of course due to the previous graph, but more accurately describes the problem. Actually, atelca that's probably the most depressing graph I've ever seen. If in 1950 the costs of all age 65 and older subsidized by 12 people of working age, in 2050 these costs are subsidized only by four young men, and they will also be much larger, due to the lengthening of life expectancy and new medical atelca technologies and expensive. This is the most depressing graph I've seen, especially since it was the data on a global level - Nowhere to run, we all sink together in this swamp (the only countries atelca for which such a graph would be more or less balanced both in countries such as Yemen and Nigeria, not exactly a desirable migration destination ...). Graph similar table of data for specific Western atelca countries atelca can be found here.
Today the world median age (the age where half the people atelca in the world are below and half above) is 26, while the countries lowest median age is 15 in Yemen, and the highest is 41 in Japan. In 2050, this age group is expected to rise to 36, when most young state will be Nigeria (20 years old) and the oldest will be Spain (age 55). The following map of the world according to median age (client here):
One way to illustrate demographic forecast is elegantly by the age pyramid. On the vertical axis of the chart appear atelca in ages, and the bottom one is divided into two halves atelca - one for women and one for men, each half can tell by horizontal columns the percentage of people of any age. The meaning of
